Japanese Cultural Center

We were treated to a wonderful, very educational experience at the Japanese Cultural Center today! There were three parts to our field trip:
1. Guided tour of the Gallery- We learned about Japanese culture and history and saw many artifacts. Ask your child to share with you what they learned there.
2. Japanese toys and games- The children had a chance to play with toys that children played with long ago. They also got to make their own toy from recyclables.
3. Japanese dance- The children learned a traditional Japanese dance about the Maneki neko (good luck cat). Watch the video clips of our talented dancers!

We'd like to thank the following:
  •  Ms. Ayada and Mrs. Almeida for helping us today! We appreciate your help!
  •  Iwata Sensei for teaching us so much about the Japanese culture.
  • The JCCH for giving us passes to come back again with our families. Iwata Sensei said that the children will become your tour guides when you visit!
Enjoy the pics of the activities we did in the dojo. Sorry, but we were not allowed to take pics in the gallery, so that's a great reason for your family to go on a family field trip!
